Curriculum
Our daily program follows the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Child Care. (English) This curriculum is based on the vision that all children will grow to their fullest potential with dignity, a sense of self-worth, and a zest for living and learning.
Curriculum goals are:
- Well-Being: Children experience a safe and caring environment where emotional and physical health, positive self-identities, and a sense of belonging are nurtured and protected.
- Play and Playfulness: Children experience an open and flexible environment where playful exploration, problem solving, and creativity are encouraged and planned.
- Communication & Literacy’s: Children experience an intellectually, socially and culturally engaging environment where their communicative practices, languages, literacy’s and literate identities are valued and supported.
- Diversity and Social Responsibility: Children experience socially inclusive and culturally sensitive environments in which consideration for others, inclusive, equitable, democratic and sustainable practices are enacted and social responsibility is nurtured.
Children are celebrated for their gifts, strengths and individuality and we understand that how each child’s learns is as varied as the children themselves. Thus our curriculum, which is child centered and child directed allows educators to build learning concepts such as language, math, science, art and more around the child’s interest. Educators document learning via photos and learning stories which are assembled in individual children’s portfolios. Parents are able to take this portfolio home for the night and review what has been learned at daycare. White boards are mounted outside the classroom to update parents as to what is happening.
